Found in the South of France, this Late 19th Century French Giltwood Wall Mirror was crafted in the late 1800’s in the grand Louis XVI style. Often referred to as a marriage mirror or “miroir de mariage” because of its size and symbolic carvings that represent union and love. The piece features an ornate giltwood crest exhibiting flowers, foilage and a stylized bird or eagle motif. The original mirrored glass shows some spotting and crazing which is typical for its age and only adds to the charm of piece. The mirror is ready to be placed on the wall with a newer wired backing. This Late 19th Century French Louis XVI Giltwood Wall Mirror with its beautiful giltwood and aged patina will certainly make a statement piece in all interior styles.
