Found in the South of France, this wooden box was handmade in France in the early 20th Century. The piece presents nailhead trim around the edges, a brass handle on the top and a metal hinge locking mechansism. The hinge locking mechanism looks to be added at a later date. Once used as a shipping crate, the box or trunk dispays two paper tags that have been affixed to the back reading “Gare De Depart, 4613, Paris Destination Nevers”. Today this wooden box can be used for storage or simply placed in a room as a conversation piece.
