Found in the South of France, this Folding Bench was crafted from walnut in the early 1900’s. The piece is designed with a continious slatted back and three tandem style upholstered seats that lift to the upright position. The entire bench, resting on eight legs that have been conjoined by front and back stretchers, is designed to fold into the upright position for ease of mobility and storage. The seat upholstery, as found, is in good condition and shows some fading on the upper side as can be seen in the detialed photos. These types of benches were created for use in stadiums, theaters or events where large groups would gather. Today, this type of seating would compliment all interiors, placed in a hallway, dining room or simply used when additional seating is required.
