Found in the South of France, these Mid-20th Century French Louis XIII Style Carved Sheep Bone Dining Chairs were crafted from wood in the mid 1900’s. Each of the eight chairs present a tall arched back and feature four carved “os de mouton” (sheep bone) legs. In as found upholstery, with no tears or stains, the chairs are finished with large aged brass tacks.
Os de mouton is a design term that refers to the classic stretchers that are a defining element of Louis XIII furniture. The shape of the chair legs is based on the shape of the legs of a lamb.
