Found in the South of France, this large scale 19th Century French Giltwood Wall Mirror was crafted in the late 1800’s in the grand Louis Philippe Style. The piece features an ornate hand-carved giltwood crest exhibiting flowers, foilage and a stylized torch motif. The inner boarder of the mirror presents beading that resembles a strand of pearls often call “les perles”. Red oxidation shows through the beautiful original water gilded patina which makes this piece striking and spectacular. The original mirrored glass shows some spotting and crazing which is typical for its age and only adds to the charm of piece. The mirror is ready to be placed on the wall with a newer wired backing. This 19th Century French Louis Philippe Wall Mirror with its beautiful giltwood and aged patina will certainly make a statement piece in all interior styles.
