Found in the South of France, this 19th Century French Empire Style Model Chest of Drawers was crafted from walnut in the late 1800’s. The piece features three drawers, one secret drawer and two retaining their original hardware. The drawers are flanked with brass and ebonized columns which is true to the French Empire Style. These types of dresser models are considered apprentice pieces and were used to showcase the chest of drawers before it was made in full size. They were samples given to salesmen to sell to furniture designers and sellers. They later became collectible items for lovers of furniture due to the complexity of their design and structure.
