20th Century French Confit Pot

Found in the South of France, this is a lovely French confit pot. Confit pots were used for food preservation. The bottom half was left unglazed to allow the pot to keep cool while half buried in the ground. Featuring a wonderful glazed color this piece would be wonderful as a vessel to hold kitchen utensils or flowers.

Antique French Ironstone Drain Plate

This is an antique oval french ironstone drainer. Drainers of this type were meant to sit in a platter allowing the juices of the meat or fish to drain through the holes into the bottom platter. The drainer sits on a raised rim and is pierced with small holes, a larger central hole is used to lift the drainer from a platter. Today they are highly collectible and look wonderful displayed as a wall hanging or used as a serving trivet at the table. This piece has two hairline cracks which is consistent with age and use .

Brass Candleholder, England, Early 19th Century

This is an antique English candleholder dating to the early 19th century. The candlestick has a scalloped triangular drip base with a loop handle. The base has a snuffer holder although the snuffer is no longer with the piece. The stem has a side push up mechanism which allows the candle to be raised as it burns. This brass candleholder has a beautiful aged patina.

By placing the funnel in the center of the pie it prevents the pie filling from boiling up and leaking through the crust by allowing steam to escape from inside the pie. Pie funnels are sometimes called vents, whistles, chimneys or birds. A wonderful item for the pie funnel collector or cook.

An English ironstone scale plate with black transfer print, unmarked, in near perfect condition. Originally these stands were used in markets for counter top displays for meats and cheeses and are now often re-purposed as food platters and paired with antique glass food cloches. Two available.

French Herb Chopper

Found in the South of France, this antique French herb cutter is also known as a “demilune” or Mezzaluna (half-moon). The curved steel blades have wooden handles on each end to allow for the fresh garden herbs to be quickly and efficiently chopped. This chopper has 5 blades for maximum chopping speed.

French Leather Travel Bag, Early 1800’s

This antique French Leather Travel Bag has stylish detail and fittings with a working lock system. Although there is not a key, the clasp are in working order. The french words Comte De Saporta are embosed on the exterior of the bag as well as Boudet 43 B des Capucines Paris being engraved on the chrome interior. This is a great size for travelling and although very solid is not too heavy. The leather is a bit stiff and dry but could easily be fed and softened up.

This is a J. Sainsbury’s Potted Meats pot. The pot originally contained ground potted meat made by J. Sainsbury’s, Superior Home Made. Today you could use this iconic black transfer and white crock to serve butter, soft cheeses or just as a display in your kitchen.
